Storm Chaser
Storm Chaser
This painting started out as a timid girl under an umbrella during a rainstorm. At some point in the process, I ran across the following saying, which I’ve loved for years:
“Fate whispers to the warrior, ‘You cannot withstand the storm.’
The warrior whispers back, ‘I am the storm.”
My timid girl tossed the umbrella and I dove down a rabbit hole researching badass storm-chasing women. I stumbled onto a website (girlswhochase.com) dedicated to Girls Who Chase Storms and this quote from their founder, Jennifer Walton, reminded me that being true to our passions often results in ‘poetry in motion.’
“It's time girls and women felt empowered to do that thing they most long to do, no matter how daunting,non-stereotypical, stormy, or mathematical it might seem. Sometimes we have no idea what we're capable of. And when we figure it out, our lives are forever altered. We're here to tell you: Whatever your thing is, if you love it, you can and you will figure it out.”
