152 INSIGHTS Into My Soul
(aka NOT a fancy polished blog)
I love Meg Ryan’s character in the 90’s RomCom, “You’ve Got Mail.” She’s authentic and a little awkward and so relatable. You can just tell that her little head is packed with endless opinions and interesting musings. She thinks more than she talks, and through her writing you (and her inevitable romantic partner) gain a more full understanding of where she’s coming from and an appreciation for her complexity.
Like her character, writing is an integral element of my creative process. It’s how I work through the mess and make sense of things. And while writing is a crucial part of my art (and my life), it often isn’t represented in the shiny finished product stage.
So, just to be clear - this isn’t one of those tidy blogs where I’ll be handing down the wisdom of the ages in an orderly fashion. Instead, this is a peek behind the easel, a glimpse of the odd bits and pieces rattling around in my head at the moment, a place to read what I would have jotted down on the back of a used envelope if I’d had one handy. I might not make to it 152, but this is the place where I’ll be leaving the breadcrumbs if you’re interested in following along.
